Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY DECKS ARE USED IN BLACKJACK EXTREME?

Two decks with the shuffle point set before a new deal begins with less than 26 cards remaining in the "shoe". You will hear a "shuffle" sound and see "SHUFFLE" scroll up the screen when the shoe is shuffled.

IF I RAISE DO I HAVE TO TAKE A CARD?

Yes, you will be dealt one card after the dealer selects "play". You can then take more cards if you want to improve your hand.

IF I RAISE WITH A PAIR CAN I SPLIT THE PAIR?

Yes. A "Split" option button will appear instead of an automatic card. Make sure you have enough chips left at the table to match your total bet (blind + raise). Any two ten-value cards are considered pairs, so you can split a Jack/Queen for instance or ten/King.

CAN I STILL TAKE MORE CARDS IF I DON'T RAISE?

Yes, and if you have a pair you can still split if you have sufficient chips to match the blind bet.

CAN THE DEALER SPLIT OR RAISE?

No, the player/dealer options are limited to choosing which hole card to show, folding after the betting round and hitting any soft hand.

CAN I RAISE AFTER SPLITTING?

No,

CAN I RESPLIT PAIRS?

No, only one split per hand is allowed.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE DEALER IS SHORT STACKED?

The software moves sufficient chips to cover each bet to the center of the table as the bet is made. If the dealer runs out of chips, players will be given the option to "pass" or set a blind and later on to raise. If the dealer plays any winnings will be used to payoff uncovered bets. The payoff order is blind bets paid in table order (clockwise from the button), then raised bets in the full amount starting again in table order. The rules spell out a step by step payout formula for paying off from a pot which is short-stacked.

STRATEGY NOTE: While it may appear foolish to make a bet which could be won by the dealer but not paid if won by the player, in tournament play it may make sense for a chip leader to take the risk to force the dealer out of the game. BJX is like poker in that each hand is situational, and the proposition between the dealer and each player is unique.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I TIME OUT?

The computer makes a "default move" for you, depending on the situation:

Players will have the SMALL BLIND bet.
The Dealer's SECOND dealt card is revealed.
Players hand will be CHECKED.
The Dealer will automatically PLAY.
Player will STAY.
Dealer hand will hit until 17 or better (soft hand waits for timeout to pay off).
